What to Expect During Your First Visit for Scoliosis Treatment
As a CLEAR™ Certified Scoliosis Treatment Center, we offer a comprehensive and personalized approach to care. Whether you're seeking an alternative to surgery or want a second opinion, here’s what you can expect during your initial consultation with our team.
Step 1: Health History Review
Your visit begins with a warm introduction to our staff and a discussion of your or your child’s medical history, including:
* Details of the scoliosis diagnosis (if already made)
* Previous imaging or treatment (such as bracing or physical therapy)
* Symptoms, concerns, and goals
* Family history of scoliosis or spinal issues
* Overall health, lifestyle, and physical activity level
This conversation helps us understand your background and sets the foundation for truly customized care.
Step 2: Comprehensive Assessment
Next, we conduct a thorough physical examination, including:
* Postural analysis to evaluate shoulder, hip, and spinal alignment
* Range of motion testing
* Neurological screening (if necessary) to assess reflexes, strength, and sensation
* Functional movement assessment to observe how the body compensates for spinal curvature
This assessment allows us to identify any muscular imbalances, spinal tension, or movement restrictions that may be related to scoliosis.
Step 3: Digital X-Rays and Curve Measurement
For accurate diagnosis and treatment planning, we may take digital spinal x-rays to:
* Confirm the presence and severity of scoliosis
* Measure the Cobb angle (degree of curvature)
* Identify any structural abnormalities or spinal rotation
* Evaluate spinal balance and alignment from multiple views
If you already have recent x-rays, we can review those during your visit. For new imaging, we’ll explain the process and ensure your safety and comfort.
Step 4: In-Depth Analysis and Diagnosis
Once the assessment and imaging are complete, Dr. Collin Hilliard—a CLEAR™ Institute Certified Chiropractor—will review the findings with you. This includes:
* A clear explanation of the scoliosis type (idiopathic, congenital, degenerative, etc.)
* Measurement of the curve and growth potential (if applicable)
* Discussion of any postural or structural concerns
* Guidance on the likely progression of the condition if left untreated
This is also your opportunity to ask questions, express concerns, and fully understand your diagnosis.
Step 5: Personalized Treatment Recommendations
Based on your results, we’ll outline a custom scoliosis treatment plan tailored to your specific needs. Your plan may include:
* CLEAR™ Scoliosis Protocols (MIX, FIX, SET) for curve reduction and spinal stabilization
* Spinal adjustments specific to your curve pattern
* Postural and rehabilitative exercises
* ScoliBrace® fitting (if bracing is recommended)
* Co-management referrals (if additional imaging or specialty care is needed)
Our goal is to address the curve at its root, improve alignment, reduce pain (if present), and help you or your child maintain a healthy, active lifestyle.
6. Designed with Cutting-Edge Technology
ScoliBrace uses 3D body scanning, algorithmic modeling, and digital design to create braces that meet exact specifications for correction and comfort. This advanced process ensures that the final product delivers superior outcomes compared to traditional plaster-cast or standardized braces.
Each ScoliBrace is reviewed and adjusted by certified clinicians trained in scoliosis-specific care, further reinforcing the quality and precision behind every custom brace.
